An #impeller is a rotating part of a centrifugal pump, a compressor, or other machine designed to move a fluid by rotation. Impellers get heavily corroded due to service conditions. They are typically subject to erosion-corrosion, and cavitation. With the right protective material, impellers can provide a long-term service. In the next 2 minutes we will demonstrate how you can extend the life of an impeller with #Belzona 1341 – an epoxy-based coating for the erosion #corrosionprotection of pumps and impellers. How-to guidelines: First, if the repair area is contaminated, pressure wash the surface and use a salt removal solution to wash away all contaminants. Then, use an angular grit abrasive and blast the surface to a near white metal finish at a minimum 3 mils profile. Once the surface is fully prepared, use the Manufacturer’s Instructions for Use to carry out the application. Mix Belzona 1341 at the ratio of 1-part Base to 1-part Solidifier by volume. Apply an even coat at the specified thickness, using a stiff bristled brush working the material well into the surface. Allow to cure until touch dry before applying a second coat. Consult with the manufacturer’s Instructions for Use for the recommended overcoat window. Mix additional material in a different color and apply an even coat making sure that the 1st coat is well covered. The protection of an impeller with Belzona 1341 is now complete!
