Belzona Upgrades Flooring at a Multi-Use Arena A nice, aesthetically pleasing flooring elevates the entire look of the interior, whether it is of residential or commercial purpose. Stains, warping, buckling, cupping, scratching, excessive wear - are just a few examples of problems causing damage to floors. Besides an unattractive look of a damaged floor, it might compromise safety. When it comes to a space of commercial use, safety is of an outmost importance and concern. Therefore, a quick response, an easy-to-apply solution and durability are the key factors Customers look for when it comes to safety hazards. In this video we demonstrate an application carried out at a multi-use arena by Industrial Repair Technology (IRT) team out of Kansas City, MO, USA. Materials Used: Belzona 5231 (SG Laminate) was used as a base coat. Belzona 5231 is a 2-part epoxy coating for floor protection. Belzona 5233 was used as a top coat to encapsulate the aggregate and to provide a UV stable protection. Belzona 5233 is a 2-part, waterborne, solvent-free UV stable floor protective coating. Aggregate: A custom flakes blend was developed by the IRT team to match the existing terrazzo flooring at the facility. How-to guide: 1. The old VCT flooring was first removed and the concrete was cleaned of all debris. 2. A new cove was created with the Belzona 5231/5233 and custom flakes blend system. 3. Belzona 5231 was applied as a base coat by brush to the edges and the cove and by squeegee to the floor. 4. The aggregate was hand broadcast to rejection into the wet Belzona 5231 at the rate of approx. 4-6 sq. ft. per pound. After the base coat sured, the excess aggregate was vacuumed. 5. Belzona 5233 was applied as a top coat to encapsulate the aggregate.
