How To Repair Overhead Spalling Concrete with Belzona

#Spallingconcrete is quite a common issue in concrete repairs. However, if left unattended it might compromise the integrity of the entire concrete structure. Damaged or spalled parts of concrete might lead to further water ingress, deeper spalling, or crumbling, exposing reinforcing bars, etc. Additionally, spalling concrete poses a safety hazard to general public or to the property. Spalling concrete requires attention and immediate remediation. Especially if the spalling parts are located #overhead, for example, edges of balconies, parapet walls, entrances and arch ways, walls.

In this short video, you will learn how to successfully fix spalling concrete on an overhead structure. The repair is carried out with Belzona 4141 - a lightweight epoxy composite specifically designed for the overhead concrete and stonework repair.
Unlike, conventional concrete repair materials which must be left for a minimum of 28 days to fully cure and be returned to service, Belzona 4141 allows the repair to be complete at 12 hours (for a full mechanical cure) and 3 days (for a full chemical cure).

How-to Guide:
Step 1: Prepare the shuttering by applying Belzona 9111 (Release Agent). 
Step 2: Clean and degrease the repair area to ensure a proper adhesion of the product.  
Step 3: Mix and apply Belzona 4911 (Magma TX Conditioner) to the repair area with a stiff bristled brush in a thin layer.
Step 4: Install the temporary shuttering to provide the necessary support for the application of the Belzona product. 
Step 5: Thoroughly mix the components of Belzona 4141. 
Step 6: Firmly press or trowel the mixed product into the repair area ensuring that the product is compacted into the area to prevent air pockets from being formed. 
Step 7: Using a trowel, for the edge details. 
Step 8: Remove the temporary shuttering. 
Step 9: Using an emory cloth, smooth out the surface and the edges.
