How to Create a Drainage Slope with Belzona

To ensure that water collects and flows to a lower elevation away from your site, a drainage slope can often be the answer. This video demonstrates how to create an efficient drainage slope with Belzona materials. http://www.belzona.com/4154

Utilizing materials such as Belzona 4154, a fast curing and impact resistant material, damaged concrete and stonework can be rebuilt and new floor areas can be formed.

With the addition of a coating system such as Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade), floor areas can be protected for the long term from chemical attack and erosion and corrosion damage even when operating under immersion conditions in contact with aqueous solutions.

Materials Used:

To create a drainage slope, we used Belzona 4154 and Belzona 5811(Immersion Grade). For more information, please visit

How-To Guide:

Step 1: Prior to application, condition the surface with Belzona 4911 (Magma TX Conditioner).
Step 2: Ensure the floor surface is clean, firm and dry.
Step 3: Thoroughly mix the contents of Belzona 4911 Base and Solidifier.
Step 4: Immediately apply Belzona 4911 using a stiff bristled brush.
Step 5: To gain the required shape, formers are used.
Step 6: Using a mechanical mixer, combine the Base and Solidifier of Belzona 4154.
Step 7: Allow 1-2 minutes of mixing to achieve a homogenous consistency.

Belzona 4154 should be combined with either Belzona 4124 or a locally sourced aggregate to provide a highly cost-effective solution, especially for large scale applications.

Step 8: Add the aggregate into the resin.
Step 9: For optimal consistency, it is recommended to add the aggregate in parts.
Step 10: Apply the mixture directly onto conditioned surface.
Step 11: Spread the mixture using screeding techniques.
Step 12: Tamp down firmly to remove entrapped air.

To ensure high performance even in harsh operating conditions, Belzona 4154 must be overcoated with a Belzona material, best suited for the application. Please contact your local Belzona Distributor who will recommend the correct system for your application. http://www.belzona.com/en/about/disfinder.aspx

For the purpose of this demonstration, we have selected Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade) to complete this drainage slope.

Step 13: Combine the Base and Solidifier of Belzona 5811.
Step 14: Mix thoroughly until a uniform consistency is obtained.
Step 16: Apply the Belzona 5811 coating using a stiff bristled brush or a rubber squeegee.

This Belzona repair solution is ideally suited for repairs performed on horizontal surfaces as a levelling material to fill large uneven areas, deep voids, gaps and cracks.
