A 2-part composite material for metal repair and resurfacing based on a solvent-free, surface-tolerant epoxy resin reinforced with silicon steel alloy. This composite material is specifically designed for application to wet and oil contaminated surfaces, as well as for underwater applications. It is easy to mix and apply without the need of specialist tools and can be machined using conventional tools. In this video, we will demonstrate how to mix Belzona 1161 by volume. For the mixing, you will need two components (base and solidifier) of Belzona 1161, and a Belzona spatula. Each Belzona product comes with the manufacturer’s instructions for use. First, remove the cap from Belzona 1161 base. Then, remove cap from Belzona 1161 solidifier and move the product around with the spatula to ensure the oil is mixed in with the product. Unless the entire contents of base and solidifier are needed for the application, transfer two-part base, and one part of solidifier to the working surface. Place the seal and cap back onto the containers to store for later use. Mix both components in a figure eight motion to achieve a uniform material, free of any streakiness.
